New in Fall 2025 - Experiential Major Maps
An experiential major map outlines recommended experiences to choose that go beyond the degree plan while supporting the chosen major. These experiences will shape you and your time at Texas State. While some experiences are part of the curriculum, most are co-curricular, such as joining a campus event or organization, participating in community service projects, and taking part in professional development or leadership programs.
Why use a major map?
Texas State’s major maps are optional, but there are key reasons to use them:
- Get the most out of your time and investment
- Develop the personal and professional character that employers seek
- Exit your comfort zone and achieve your goals
- Find support all along the way
We care about your success
Texas State’s faculty, advisors and staff have come together to create an experiential major map philosophy with four features to help you fulfill your aspirations:

Advance your academic journey

Expand your personal and social development

Enrich your practical competence
